Fairy Princess Braids

This blog is one of my favorites because not only does the mom do GREAT hairstyles, but her daughter got her hair cut around the same time my daughter did this year.  Now, this style says that you need longer hair to do it - but I was able to do it on Bee by just pulling the braids tighter - and I actually really liked the way it turned out.  You can find the step by step here: http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2010/10/fancy-princess-braids.html

long over-due hair blogposts...first, a twist on braided bands...

I found this here - http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2010/09/braided-bangs-with-tweek.html , a site I'm frequenting more often as our girlies both got their hair cut around the same time, and now have similar a similar length.  Here is how our's turned out!

Okay such a cheesy smile there - I think I remember her not so much being awake yet when I was taking these. Here are the rest.  :)

This was much easier to do with wet hair (we tried dry at first), but I think it came out really well!  I did have to an alligator clip under the bow to make the end of the braid lay flat.   Overall a cute 'do, but it only stayed in for one day... Have an awesome day, and check back soon - I'm on a roll, and just might get another post in tonight!

Triple braid

When your girlie has shorter hair, you can look up "toddler styles" on other moms' hair blogs - or you can look up "down do" or "half up half down".  Usually 'dos with these labels can be adapted for shorter hair...just a tiny tip.  :)
I found this style here: http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/2010/01/down-do.html  Granted, this little girl has much longer hair than Bridgette, but with simply taking out the last step, the hair style still works, and if I do say so myself, looked adorable!

And here it is, in action, just before (then just after) an outdoor performance promoting an upcoming theatrical perfomance Bee is going to be part of in a few weeks.

Waterfall Braid

This is such a pretty 'do.  We were running late to summer theater, so I only did one braid, but I think it came out so pretty!  I found the idea here: http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2010/07/no-french-braid-floating-braid.html   Her  hair is still wet in the photos, and when it dried, it really fluffed out and looked even prettier, but you'll get the idea.

These photos didn't come out so great - but you get the idea.  This is such a pretty braid, and can be done on any length of hair!

Topsy Tail Rainbow Headband

This is an easy style that is adorable, and keeps your little girl's hair out of her face!!   Section the hair into six tiny ponies.  We chose rainbow colors (of course!).  When that is done, simply use the topsy tail tool to make the ponies lay flat.  That all!  Here is how it turned out:

Of course, when little miss is done, she needs a coffee break.  :)  J/K it's actually tea - and it was mine - but she grabbed it!  I have a feeling that I'm going to have teenage coffee or tea drinkers on my hands.  :)

I have a feeling that you'll be seeing lots of "headband" styles until little miss's hair grows in a bit.   That's okay - I love the way they look, and generally they stay in for a few days.

Funky Upside Down Piggies

I have to start off by saying that I never took a photo of the final "final" part of this 'do.  When I was done with the piggies, I  curled the ends - and it looked so cute!  Anyhow - you'll get the idea. This was a cute shorty 'do, but only lasted one day - by that night, it had fallen out.  First I made a piggie:

 

Then I put the topsy tail in upside down, and pulled the hair up and out.

I laid half of the pony off the left and half to the right, then added a bow in the center.

Once her hair was dry, I curled the ends - which was so adorable - but I forgot to take a photo of that part. Anyhow, a quick, easy 'do that looks sweet.  :)  Enjoy!

That kind of mom...

Yup, that's me.  I don't stress over hair.  Wait, no, I guess that isn't true.  I stress over the way the kids' hair looks only so much as I don't want it looking "ragamuffin" when they leave the house (at home, anything goes), but I don't stress over cut...or in this case color.

Bee and I have come to an agreement over her hair in the last few years.  She gets it cut only once (sometimes twice) a year, after her dance recital.  This is because I have to get it up in a bun for the recital, and that's hard to do if you've cut it short, you know?

When she gets it cut, she calls the shots - length, style, color.  This year, she wanted her hair like her best friend Emily, so off came about seven inches!  She also wanted pink streaks, so those went in too.  Yes, they are permenant.  But the ones we got last year were permenant too, and by fall they were barely noticeable.

She loves it, and gets to let out her inner "punk" once a year.  She nearly bounced out of the salon when we were done, and was literally singing a song about loving her new hair.   So forgive me, and be warned before you look at the photos - we'll be showing some shorter 'dos for a while as it grows out again.  Here are her first few.  The night we got home from getting it cut, it looked like this:

The next day, we just did some really simply tiny ponies and put flower clips in.

Yesterday we got a little more funky, and tried some messy buns with a zig zag part. She had just finished playing in the sprinkler, so her hair is soaking wet.  It looked even cuter when it was dry - but you get the idea.  Once it was dry, I should have curled the ends under, but we were off to a baseball game, and didn't have time. 

So there is my Bee's adorable new pink hair 'do!  More short styles to come in the very near future.
