And Updo for shorty hair...

Busy Few Weeks....Take Two!

Maybe this will just be how it is this spring/summer - with being so busy, running here there and everywhere, I just might not have the time I did in the fall and winter to write a blog every day or so.  I might just have to do them in one lump - or do several in one day when I find myself with time. As it is, the "baby" is still asleep and the self sufficient ones are getting themselves around for the day. That leaves me with time to blog.

We had a busy weekend!
We went on a field trip to a semi-local science museum, had grandmas and grandpas come over for Bridgette's recital and celebrated Alexander's birthday (a week early) with them.  At the end of the weekend, Bee got her long awaited hair cut (I make her wait each year until after her dance recital, so I can easily get it into a bun for recital day) and color...it looks adorable!

But...let's back up a minute. I have one final hair post (when I actually remembered to take photos!) for long hair - here it is!

Wrap Around Braid into a Side Pony

Side Pony

For some reason, I couldn't link to this 'do directly, but it is the second one down on the link (as of today).  I love this style, but our's didn't turn out quite right. criss cross 'do into a side pony

Ugh. I've been sick - so my beautiful girl's rainbow 'do lasted a few more days than anticipated!   :0)  Thank heaven for hair styles that last several days!

I've been wanting to try this style http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/search/label/criss-cross%20do for a while now, and sadly, I didn't do it very well.  My problem was two fold - my part wasn't quite right (I didn't leave enough hair on the right side to continue the x's) and I used to much hair in each small pony - but live and learn, right?

It still turned out pretty cute- and today is day two of it with a different flower, so it also holds up well.  Anyhow, not so bad for coming off of feeling like death for three days.  :)

Messy Bun

I've always wondered how to do a messy bun - have you?  I searched a little, and found this tutorial, which I think explains a simple way to do it - and I'm all about simple!!  http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/2008/10/messy-bun-tutorial.html

We tried to do this with a "tweener" feel, as I have to sometimes allow Bee to look a little older!  Not that I like it...  But I think this 'do came out really cute!!  To do this, I simple made a side part into a side pony.  Then I followed the messy bun instructions, and added a cute headband. This 'do took me less than five minutes, and stayed put all day.  Here it is, enjoy!!

You'll notice Bee's bun is a little looser than the one in the video - that is because I used all her hair, and only one elastic to pull it together - I could have made it tighter by adding more than one elastic or even bobby pins to hold it down.  I liked it loose, though, and so did she. We sprayed it a lot to make it hold that shape, and held up pretty well throughout the day!

At this point, someone was done doing normal photos - they go downhill from here, so I'll just share one!  :)

Fancy Pony Tail

Let's face it - the pony tail can get a little boring -  but it's classic. Quick, easy, and looks adorable on all little girls!  I found this updo here: http://www.princesshairstyles.com/2009/03/easter-dress-and-fancy-easter-hair.html and decided to do it, but leave the pony tail out.  Because we were headed out by eight a.m., the pony didn't get curled, but I might do that for church in the morning if this style can hold up for two days! This one takes a bit of time (I'd say about fifteen to twenty minutes), but it's well worth the effort.  You can't see all of Bee's twists because of the giant flower I put in her hair - but they are there!  Here's our take on that do:

Bee loved this one, too.  :)  But then - she seems to love them all. I'd recommend doing this with fresh out of the shower hair - it makes it much easier to do the twists and have them stay put!  Have a great Saturday, and as always, feel free to copy!

Zig Zag Braids

I found this one here: http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/2008/11/zig-zag-braids.html  This amazing mom, Jess, as an adorable little girl - and adorable hair ideas!   Bee and I found this one together last night and decided to try it this morning.   It was super easy to do, and looks so cute!  The one thing we did differently was not to start with the hair in six elastics - because if we had, we'd have to "double up" elastics - and taking those out isn't Bee's favorite thing.  So, I parted and added the hair one section at a time.  It worked fine for me.    These first photos are just after she had a shower, so her hair was still wet.  (note the shirt - did I mention she loves rainbows??)

Later on, we decided to curl the ends.  Tonight, I will probably braid the ends so that when we take it out tomorrow, her hair will be curly all the way to the ends.

A Stacy *gasp* Original?!?!

Okay, so I suppose this isn't totally original. All I really did was take a few of the hairstyles I'd already tried, and combined them to make a new one.  First I sectioned her hair in four sections.  I did puffy braids across her head with clear elastics, and ended in a side pony, which I then twisted into twist braids (and secured with more clear elastics).  I added one of our newly created flowers and  - viola!  A princess "do" for dance class!

This was a quick and easy style that I put in about ten minutes before she had to leave for class.  It stayed in all day yesterday as well.  We just switched out the flower for one that would match her outfit.  I'm really loving the clear elastics, because if you do a style that can last several days, you can always just switch out your bow and still have her hair match her outfit.  The best part is, they're cheap, and you can throw them out after one use!!  *Quick Tip* I usually cut the tiny clear elastics out of her hair - much less complaining this way, and it goes much faster!   I hope you all have a great day, and as always, feel free to copy!

Church Hair

On Sundays, we like to do up our do's a bit fancier.  Here is how my babies went to church this morning.  Bee had twisted braids into a curly side pony.  You can learn how to do this hairstyle step by step, here:  http://shaunellshair.blogspot.com/2009/09/side-pony-with-twist-braids-20-30-min.html
It's important to start with wet hair.  I had her take a shower before I started this.  This was what it looked like while it was still wet.

Then I  blew her ponytail dry, and set it in hot rollers.  She kept them in for about 30 minutes. There isn't an exact science for how long to leave them in, I just did it until it was time for us to go to church.   You can see how thrilled she was to have her photo taken, but I thought she looked so cute with the curlers in. :)

Here is the end result. I loved this!!  It was so easy to do, and yet looks so fancy.  She felt like such a princess.  We ladies know what great hair makes us feel like. She had a bounce in her step this morning!!

Of course, the little men get do's too.  And they didn't want to be left off the blog.  "Why do you only take pictures of Bridgette's hair, mommy?"  So here they are in all their glory.  Watch out ladies!  They're pretty handsome!
